WHAT IS REPRODUCTIVE REFLEXOLOGY?

arr-logo-green fertility .jpg

An increasing number of couples are finding it difficult to conceive with as many as one in three experiencing fertility issues.  Of these, studies have shown only one in six couples will seek medical assistance with conception.

Reproductive Reflexology focuses on the treatment of female and male reproductive and fertility conditions. Reproductive Reflexology combined with my comprehensive Fertility Awareness Program can be applied to either:

  • Support natural conception, or

  • Support and complement Assisted Reproductive Fertility treatments such as IUI, ICSI or IVF and fertility drugs such as Clomid and Metformin.

Both the man and the woman should be assessed for the most appropriate treatment plan as it takes two to make a baby and fertility is not “just the woman’s issue”. Knowledge from my Fertility Awareness Program will give you information on how to understand your fertility utilising Basal Body Temperature (BBT) and cervical mucus charting to learn and understand your fertile window, assessments will be made to your lifestyle to consider aspects such as basic nutrition, hydration and supplements, assessments will be reviewed as to your physical activity and it’s effects on fertility and ovulation, your habits and environment concerns and managing emotions and the impact these will have on your ovulation. Time is spent assisting men to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle, nutrition and emotions to ensure that men can grow the best sperm possible. My Fertility Awareness Plan ensures that you are undertaking the best possible pathway to a successful outcome with knowledge gained that will continue to support your reproductive health.

Becoming pregnant can be both stressful and expensive. If your journey to pregnancy is using Assisted Reproductive Treatments (ART), it is key to ensure you have the best physical, mental and emotional preparations so that the outcomes of success increase. It is important to remember Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) will not increase the quality or quantity of sperm and eggs, so preconception care is key to achieving a positive pregnancy test.

I am happy to treat women and men at any stage of your fertility planning, whether you are wanting to enhance your general health before trying to conceive or experiencing problems with conception.

An important factor that is often overlooked with fertility is the impact stress has on our body.  There is no animal in the animal kingdom that will reproduce in times of stress, and this includes us.  When our body determines our stresses are too high, hormones are shunted away from reproductive hormone production to “flight or fight” mode and it becomes even harder to have a successful pregnancy.    We all know what it is like to “wait” for the end of the month to see if we are pregnant or are not.  Relaxation is the key to a successful fertility program.   Many of my clients are undergoing fertility treatment with conventional medical practitioners so I can tailor make your treatments to enhance and support your medical practitioner’s treatments and boost the chances of success using your body’s own mechanisms.

After your initial consultation, I will put together a program that mimics your natural cycle reminding your body what it is supposed to be doing.  With this I mean, week 1 your body should be shedding your previous months endometrium lining, week 2 should be stimulating ovaries to produce good follicular development, week 3 maintaining balance to allow for possible conception and week 4, either preparing to shed endometrial lining or allowing the new life to implant and continue to develop.  Each week has such an important part to play in the journey of bringing new life into the world.

Being unable to conceive naturally when one feels ready can be an emotionally exhausting and traumatic time.  It triggers a huge range of emotions ranging from grief and anger, through to frustration and anxiety....to name a few.  Everywhere one looks, other woman are falling pregnant easily.  Pregnant bellies appear everywhere.  Then this creates feelings of inadequacy and despair.

However, these are the very emotions one wants to avoid as they cause untold stress in the body.  Stress which prevents the body from functioning as it should. Stress is a complex condition which affects almost all parts of the body in some way.  Cortisol (a hormone released in response to stress) can cause the release of an inhibiting hormone that reduces the production of Follicle Stimulating Hormone and Luteinizing Hormone.  Both these hormones are integral to the release of the egg and the implantation of embryo after fertilisation.  In other words, feeling stressed may be detrimental to the chances of a successful pregnancy.  Stress is an issue for both sexes, so it is equally important that both partners undertake some method of reducing their stress levels.  The first important step is to begin giving your body exactly what it needs to reduce these feelings of “fight or flight” which circumvent the body’s natural functions.

Make sure you get enough sleep, exercise, water and fresh food and do whatever you can to lower your stress.  Reflexology is one of the best modalities to produce the relaxation response allowing the body to transition from chronic state of “fight or flight” to a relaxed state that can successfully carry a baby for 9 months.

Trapped emotions may also need to be addressed as these can be suppressed in our body and have a detrimental effect on fertility.

For many couples, the stress and anxiety attached to failing to conceive can be overwhelming.  Reflexology works in a subtle way on a physical and emotional level and is especially beneficial for those experiencing fertility issues.  There is no doubt that stress plays a significant factor in an individual’s ability to conceive.

Reproductive Reflexology helps you to DE-STRESS by allowing you to achieve a state of deep relaxation during a reflexology session, switching off those thoughts about getting or being pregnant.  In addition to be an amazingly relaxing and nurturing experience, Reproductive Reflexology can assist with boosting your fertility and balancing other reproductive health conditions.

REPRODUCTIVE REFLEXOLOGY

If you are trying to conceive naturally, Reproductive Reflexology can help to:

  • Regulate your menstrual cycle

  • Stimulate ovulation by working the reflexes associated with the reproductive system

  • Balance hormones by working the Endocrine System

  • Assist your body with the removal of toxins by working on the liver and small intestine reflexes

  • Holistically support you if you are going through IVF or Donor Insemination

  • Assist with painful periods

  • Relieve the symptoms of common hormonal conditions

  • Give you a well deserved break from the worry and stress of infertility which then provides an ideal environment for conception to occur.

HOW MANY REFLEXOLOGY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

For those preparing for pregnancy, your initial consultation of 2 hours will be focused on you (and your partners) fertility and hormonal health and the potential impacts for a positive conception.

This appointment will also include discussions about your menstrual health, fertility charting and cervical mucus tracking and will be followed up with my recommendations for a plan of treatment and support if you wish to consider working with me further.

Follow up sessions will depend on your own personal fertility/health circumstances.  A suggested session plan would be customised to one session prior to ovulation and one session after ovulation to maximise the benefits for conception.

Is it time for you to take the guesswork out of your fertility journey and let me show you clear, actionable steps to prepare for your conception?  If you would like to learn more about my signature holistic fertility program and discuss whether it would be right for you, lets set up a 15 min free phone consultation.

REPRODUCTIVE REFLEXOLOGY SESSIONS FOR ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TREATMENTS (IVF, IUI, ICSI AND DONOR INSEMINATION)

Reproductive Reflexology works in conjunction with your Assisted Reproductive Treatment cycle.  A recommended treatment plan will be discussed with you to suit your personal circumstances.

These sessions would be generally before you begin your ART at your fertility clinic and would be to optimise any fertility/hormone support you are receiving.

If you would like to learn more about how I can support you in conjunction with your fertility clinic, let us set up a 15 min free phone consultation to discuss further.
