CLINICAL REFLEXOLOGY

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient therapy that is perfect for our modern, busy and often stressful lives.  Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflex points in the feet and hands which correspond to each organ, gland and structure in the body.

This gentle therapy encourages your body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.  Reflexology is a complementary therapy and should not be considered as an alternative to conventional medicine.  Another way to think of Reflexology is rather than being a foot massage for musculoskeletal issues, it is a therapy performed on your feet and hands which provides a remedial massage for your internal organs and body systems, encouraging them to come back into homeostasis.

These points respond to pressure, stimulating the body’s own natural healing process.  The body starts progressively clearing blockages, re-establishing energy flows and balancing itself, resulting in better health.

WHAT CONDITIONS CAN REFLEXOLOGY HELP?

All of us can benefit from some time taken for ourselves, to relax and reduce to the stresses to our mind/body/spirit we all feel from our busy lifestyles we lead.  Reflexology can also be particularly helpful in dealing with many of those long term and recurring conditions that many of us think we just have to accept as normal.

Reflexology therapy may be able to assist you with:

  • Pregnancy/Maternity

  • Infertility

  • Anxiety

  • Sinusitis

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome

  • Asthma

  • Headaches/migraines

  • Nervous tension

  • Fatigue

  • Hay fever and Allergies

  • PMT/PMS, Menstrual problems

  • Hormonal Imbalances

  • Congestion

  • Insomnia

  • Back problems/sciatic pain

  • Pre and post-operative care

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

A course of two or three treatments can often have a noticeable result.  Many people then choose to have a maintenance session every 4 – 6 weeks to maintain improvement.  Each client is given a suggested treatment plan after the initial consultation.  Treatment plans may vary from client to client.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?

Reflexology is performed entirely on the feet and ankles, so only the feet need to be undressed.  The first appointment includes a consultation period, whereby the treatment can be tailored specifically for the client.

During the treatment, the client lies on a massage table supported with pillows and covered in a soft blanket.

Reflex points on the feet and toes relate to the body organs and body systems.  These points are stimulated with a specific type of pressure.  The organs and body systems are encouraged to release toxins and tensions achieving a harmonious balance.

If you have ticklish feet, please don’t despair – reflexology does not tickle.
